How to Make Cocopeat

Sorting Coconut Fiber

Sorting coconut fiber is done to separate dry and wet coconut fiber. In the cocopeat making process, dry coconut fiber is used so that it does not clog the holes during the grinding process

Grinding Process

Dry coconut fiber is put into a grinding machine. From this grinding process, it will produce 2 types of products, namely cocopeat and cocofiber

Sifting Process

Cocopeat that comes out of the grinding machine is then put into a sieving machine to obtain a certain level of fineness. Tanami itself produces cocopeat with a fineness level of 3 and 5 mm, adjusting to consumer needs

Pressing Process

The sifted cocopeat is then put into a press machine. This machine will press the cocopeat to form a block. The company uses a modern method of making cocopeat blocks with machines so that it can increase its production capacity

Packaging Process

The cocopeat packaging process is quite simple.

- Sack Packaging
- Polybag Packaging
- Wrap Packaging

Coconut Fiber Rope

Coconut fiber rope is coconut fiber that is spun using a machine into a long strand (rope).

This coconut fiber rope is commonly used as a material for making coco mesh (coconut fiber net) to coir blanket for erosion control and slope stabilization.

To make coconut rope or coconut fiber rope, we need a coconut fiber rope spinning machine. This coconut fiber rope spinning machine is a machine used to spin rope from coconuts. Coconut rope is a raw material for making coconut crafts, for example making brooms, home accessories, doormats, coconut mulch, coco nets, and various types of crafts

Coco Peat

Materials sourced from natural materials, we process coconut fiber waste into goods of economic value such as cocopeat, either in bulk, press blocks or already in grow bags for planting media and cage bases, coconut fiber and many derivative products such as coconut fiber rope for making cocomesh/coir geotextile/geotextile net also coir mat and coconut sheet for mattresses.

Cocopeat is an alternative organic planting medium to replace soil. Cocopeat is made from coconut fiber and has a texture similar to soil.

This cocopeat is in the form of granules with a certain level of fineness, dark brown in color and has a distinctive coconut fiber aroma.

Bulk cocopeat or commonly called bulk cocopeat is cocopeat that is sold in the form of fine granules. The company produces bulk cocopeat in sacks and polybags.

Cocopeat block is cocopeat that is pressed into a compacted block. The company produces cocopeat blocks with a weight of approximately 5 kilograms per block.

The way to use this cocopeat block is by pouring 15 liters of water into it. The cocopeat block will immediately decompose into a soil-like planting medium that you can use immediately.

You can also add nutrients so that the use of the cocopeat block can be maximized.

Cocopeat is obtained from the coconut fiber milling process. Here are the steps for making cocopeat.

Coconut Fiber

Coconut fiber or coconut coir, is a natural fiber extracted from the outer skin of coocnuts. Coconut coir is a fibrous material found between the hard shell, inner and outer layers of coconuts and is used in products such as floor mats, mats, brushes, and mattresses.

Coconut fiber has a high lignin content so that its cellulose content is low, making it tough, strong and very durable. The extraordinary lightness of the fiber is due to the cavities that arise from the drying sieve cells.

The best grade are light in color, golden yellow (fiber from raw coconuts) or brown ( fiber from mature coconuts)

Coconut fiber is a natural coarse material obtained between the thick inside the shell. Others are obtained from the outer skin of coconuts.
